Etched In Steele

Pierce Brosnan as Remington Steele

Stephanie Zimbalist as Private Detective Laura Holt

Storyline

When Remington Steele declares that he would like to write a book about the 10 most exciting and spectacular cases of the detective agency, Laura Holt is naturally opposed.

Since he has received an invitation to publisher Russell Forsyth’s reception, Remington asks his colleague Laura to accompany him. He hopes to calm the situation and also soften Laura a bit.

At the reception, the detectives make the acquaintance of best-selling author Charlotte Knight. Mitchell Knight tells them that, in her latest novel, his wife describes how she pushes her husband from the balcony. Since he claims the best-sellers to be biographical representations of the marriage of Charlotte and Mitchell Knight, he is of course very concerned.

Remington and Laura dismiss the theory of the man as drunk talk. Then, however, Mitchell Knight is really pushed off a balcony and dies. Although the identity of the murderer appears to be clear, further research shows that Charlotte Knight was not the actual author of the books. Rather, Mitchell Knight has ghostwritten books written for his wife. A suicide?

Reminton Steele’s and Laura Holt’s subsequent investigation shows that the last novel, the one in which the balcony scene was described, was written by neither Mitchell, nor Charlotte Knight. The last novel was rather written by a hitherto unknown ghostwriter. Is he the killer?
