First Broadcast in Germany: July 23rd 1984
Tom Selleck as Private Detective Thomas Magnum
Storyline
Judge Robert Caine was nominated for the presidency of the Supreme Court when he receives a telegram congratulating his wife, Mrs. Diane Westmore, who has presumably been dead for years. This is shortly after followed by a ransom note, in which the writer tries to pressure him by revealing Diane’s history as a prostitute.
They had learned to know each other during the Second World War in a brothel, where Diane worked as a prostitute. The two fell in love and fled after a confrontation with the brother owner. Their flight took them to Honolulu, where they planned to marry. After the wedding, they were separated from each other on the same evening, as Pearl Harbour was bombed. Since they could not find each other afterwards, they had to assume that the other lost his life in the bombing.
Judge Caine commissions private investigator Magnum to find out if his first wife is still alive. He also wishes to find out who is pressuring him with revealing the past of his ex -wife.
