License to Steele

Pierce Brosnan as Remington Steele

Stephanie Zimbalist as Private Detective Laura Holt

Storyline

The detective agency of private detective Laura Holt and of her colleagues, Murphy Michaels and Bernice Fox, is not going so well. It is clear to Laura that no matter how good she is at her job, a woman has very little chance to make it in a world dominated by men.

After some thought, she gets the idea that her detective agency should be represented by a male boss. This boss is then named Remington Steele. Her typewriter’s manufacturer, Remington, is the one responsible for the first name, and the American Football team Pittsburgh Steelers for the last name.

This name change seems to have been a breakthrough, because shortly after she receives a surveillance assignment from car manufacturer Gordon Hunter. She is to ensure the safety of a diamond shipment. Unfortunately, Hunter would also like to personaly meet Remington Steele. Laura is working together with Pearson on this assignment, whom she has never seen before.

When he shows up, he introduces himself as Remington Steele. Of course, Laura Holt finds out very quickly that this man is not Ben Pearson. However, when he is found dead, she believes the stranger to be his murderer. He, however, tells her that he wanted to steal the diamonds in order to return them to the South African government, the legal owner of the gemstones.

The progress reached during the investigation shows that they can work together very well and the stranger decides to continue playing the part of detective Remington Steele.
